Sanjay Dutt Breaks Down, Says Will Surrender In 1993 Blasts Case
[Editor: If the Bhartiya Janata Party (The BJP) and their sycophant wants no one should be pardoned and we should move towards a Military State, then let us abolish article 161 of the Constitution....!! I do not know what kind of ideology the BJP and some of its partners are trying to give to the mass. Are they trying to ape, "Fascism or Stalin-ism".....?
It is very unfortunate for a country like India, where Vedas, one of the foundations of Hinduism, speak of Pardon. Let us take a few of them from Atharva Veda, translated by  Ralph T.H. Griffith:
(i) "If we have injured Air, or Earth, or Heaven, if we have wronged   our Mother or our Father,
May Agni Gārhapatya here absolve us, and bear us up into the  world of virtue"--Atharva Veda, HYMN CXX.
(ii) "1 The wealth which husband men afore time, digging, like men who
find their food with knowledge, buried,
This to the King, Vivasvān's son, I offer, Sweet be our food and
   fit for sacrificing!"
2 May he, Vaivasvata, prepare our portion; May he whose share
is mead with mead be sprinkle.
Our sin in hasty mood against our mother, or guilt whereby a
   sire is wronged and angered.
3 Whether this sin into our heart hath entered regarding mother,
   father, son or brother,
Auspicious be to us the zeal and spirit of all the fathers who are
   here among us"---Atharva Veda--HYMN CXVI.

(iii) 1 For each defect of mine in voice and spirit I have approached
  One vehement and ardent.
With all the Deities, fully approving, Brihaspati supply the
   want!
2 Disturb ye not our intellect, O Waters, nor the power of prayer_
Glide on your way, strength-giving, invocated: may I be vigor-
   ous and wise.
3 Mar not our consecrating rite, our intellect, or fervent zeal.
Gracious to us for lengthened life, propitious let the Mothers
   be.
4 Vouchsafe to us, ye Asvins twain, such strength as, with atten-
   dant light,
May through the darkness carry us~~Atharva Veda: HYMN XL.

Also, we find the same being said in some of the Puranas. For example, The sage Suta, who was the disciple of  "Vedavyasa" and son of great sage Lomaharshana said, "Narada had recited to Sanatkumara the wonderful Narada Purana. A sinner who listens to a recital of this Purana is pardoned all his sins. This is the text that I am going to reveal to you. If one faithfully listens to the recital of even one couplet of this Purana, the severest of sins is forgiven. The only stipulation is that the text must never be revealed to those who are evil or to those who do not revere religion. Please focus your minds on Vishnu and concentrate. I am about to start."
Hinduism has an embedded elements of providing mercy and pardon to the deserving persons. Let us respect that and move ahead, to form a better society, which espouses love, tolerance and universal brotherhood]
Mumbai: Actor Sanjay Dutt on Thursday broke his silence on his sentencing in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. An emotional Dutt broke down while speaking to the media and said he will surrender in the case and will not seek a pardon.

Dutt, who broke down several times during his statement to the media, said, "I am a law abiding citizen. I have the highest respect for the Supreme Court. I will abide to all terms and conditions. I will surrender at the time given. I have not applied for any pardon."

"There are many other people who deserve pardon. I want to tell with folded hands to the media, the honourable citizens of the country that when I am not going for pardon then there can be no debate about it," Dutt added.

Thanking his supporters and fans, Dutt also said, "Right now, I am a shattered man. There have been very tough moments in my life. I have got a few days left, have to finish a lot of work, want to spend time with family." His sister Priya Dutt was by his side during the press interaction and consoled him.

The apex court found the actor guilty of acquiring illegal weapons from those blamed for the bombings in Mumbai that killed 257 people. As Dutt has already served 18 months in jail, he would have to undergo the imprisonment for three-and-a-half-years. The apex court has given him four-week time to surrender.

Reacting to Sanjay Dutt's statement, Press council of India Chairman Justice Markandey Katju, who has been a supporter of the actor, said he will appeal for pardon for Dutt. "Sanjay Dutt may not appeal for pardon, but I am going to appeal. I feel he deserves pardon," Justice Katju said.

Sanjay Dutt's sentencing in the 1993 blasts case sparked a debate over whether he should be pardoned or not. While Bollywood has been unanimous in asking for a pardon, support has also been building for the actor in political circles.

Politicians and long time friends Amar Singh and Jaya Prada met the Maharashtra Governor to seek a pardon. 'Pardon Dutt' hoardings have also been put up in various parts of Mumbai. Other big politicians backing the actor are Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.

"I feel that he has already suffered a lot for the blunder he committed earlier. From being a complete wreck, he has again picked up his career to unfold his potential," Mamata said.
