Actress Shweta Menon issues statement saying she will withdraw molestation case against Congress MP
[Editor: Have anyone heard of molestation of males by females in India? Does it mean that females never touch men, inadvertently or without consent? How long will Indian continue to live in the world of denials with a Misdanrist Legal System, where women is always shown as victim? It is a real shame on India's democracy. Also, the question is why is Female body so HEAVENLY, while that of MALE is inferior?]
Kollam, November 03, 2013: Hours after filing a First Information Report or FIR against Congress MP N Peethambara Kurup for alleged molestation, actress Shweta Menon issued a press statement saying she will withdrawn her complaint against Mr Kurup after his "repeated apology."
"In the wake of Mr Peetambhara Kuroop's repeated public and personal apology about the incident at the President's Boat Race at Kollam, I am withdrawing all legal and other actions against him," a press release issued by the actress said.
The police say they have not received any letter from Ms Menon yet; her husband says they will do it on Monday morning.
Ms Menon, in her police complaint, had claimed that she was misbehaved with physically at the race on November 1. Sources said the 39-year-old actress had also named another Congressman in her complaint.
"I was very proud and I came from Bombay for this event. But when I reached there personally, as a woman I was degraded, I was let down. I felt there was no security given to me, and too much of physical touchings happened," Ms Menon had said.
The incident outraged the Malayalam film fraternity and women outfits, which demanded stern action against the politician, forcing Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to speak to a senior district official at Kollam.
The 73-year-old lawmaker, on his part, has been denying the allegation. "By any means, looks or touch if she has felt anything wrong in any ways... Am not a person who will commit any such action as an MP. We have called her and asked for apologies if ever she felt any disrespectful action from any one of our community members," he said today.
The Congress lawmaker from Kollam has also released photographs of a man in white clothes who, he claims, was standing behind Ms Menon during the ceremony. The man has not been identified yet.
