ANSWERING THE BIBLE:
Queen Victoria |
Q. Do you know what Sir Isaac Newton, Britain's (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland) Queen Victoria, France's Napoleon, the U.S. Presidents Andrew Jackson & George Washington said about the Bible?
Ans:
(i) Sir Isaac Newton, one of the most brilliant minds of his century, remarked, "There are more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history."
(ii) Britain's Queen Victoria said of the Bible, "That book accounts for the supremacy of England."
(iii) U.S. president Andrew Jackson stated, "That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic stands."
(iv) U.S. president George Washington commented, "It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible."
(v) France's Napoleon observed, "The Bible is no mere book, but a Living Creature, with a power that conquers all who oppose it" (Halley's Bible Handbook, pp. 18–19).
The God of the Bible decrees that woman must submit to the dominance of man: "The social and legal position of an Israelite wife was inferior to the position a wife occupied in the great countries round about... all the texts show that Israelites wanted mainly sons to perpetuate the family line and fortune, and to preserve the ancestral inheritance... A husband could divorce his wife; women on the other hand could not ask for divorce... the wife called her husband Ba'al or master; she also called him adon or lord; she addressed him, in fact, as a slave addressed his master or subject, his king. The Decalogue includes a man's wife among his possessions... all her life she remains a minor. The wife does not inherit from her husband, nor daughters from their father, except when there is no male heir. A vow made by a girl or married woman needs, to be valid, the consent of the father or husband and if this consent is withheld, the vow is null and void. A man had a right to sell his daughter. Women were excluded from the succession."---Roland de Vaux, archaeologist and priest.
Also let us look at the following verses from the Bible:
21st Century King James Version:
19"`And if a woman have an issue and her issue from her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days; and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the evening.
20And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean; every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean.
21And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
22And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
23And if it be on her bed or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the evening.
24And if any man lie with her at all and her monthly discharge be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean.
25"`And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation, all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation; she shall be unclean.
26Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation; and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation.
27And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
28But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean.
29And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
30And the priest shall offer one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.
31"`Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, that they die not in their uncleanness when they defile My tabernacle that is among them.'" (Leviticus 15:9-30).
English Standard Version:
19"When a woman has a discharge, and the discharge in her body is blood, she shall be in her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening. 20 And everything on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean. Everything also on which she sits shall be unclean. 21And whoever touches her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening. 22And whoever touches anything on which she sits shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening. 23Whether it is the bed or anything on which she sits, when he touches it he shall be unclean until the evening. 24And if any man lies with her and her menstrual impurity comes upon him, he shall be unclean seven days, and every bed on which he lies shall be unclean.
25"If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge she shall continue in uncleanness. As in the days of her impurity, she shall be unclean. 26Every bed on which she lies, all the days of her discharge, shall be to her as the bed of her impurity. And everything on which she sits shall be unclean, as in the uncleanness of her menstrual impurity. 27And whoever touches these things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening. 28But if she is cleansed of her discharge, she shall count for herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean. 29And on the eighth day she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons and bring them to the priest, to the entrance of the tent of meeting. 30And the priest shall use one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. And the priest shall make atonement for her before the LORD for her unclean discharge.
31"Thus you shall keep the people of Israel separate from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness by defiling my tabernacle that is in their midst." (Leviticus 15:19-30).
Holman Christian Standard Bible:
19"When a woman has a discharge, and it consists of blood from her body, she will be unclean because of her menstruation for seven days. Everyone who touches her will be unclean until evening. 20 Anything she lies on during her menstruation will become unclean, and anything she sits on will become unclean. 21 Everyone who touches her bed is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. 22 Everyone who touches any furniture she was sitting on is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. 23 If discharge is on the bed or the furniture she was sitting on, when he touches it he will be unclean until evening. 24 If a man sleeps with her, and [blood from] her menstruation gets on him, he will be unclean for seven days, and every bed he lies on will become unclean”.
25 "When a woman has a discharge of her blood for many days, though it is not the time of her menstruation, or if she has a discharge beyond her period, she will be unclean all the days of her unclean discharge, as [she is] during the days of her menstruation. 26 Any bed she lies on during the days of her discharge will be like her bed during menstrual impurity; any furniture she sits on will be unclean as in her menstrual period. 27 Everyone who touches them will be unclean; he must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening. 28 When she is cured of her discharge, she is to count seven days, and after that she will be clean. 29 On the eighth day she must take two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 30 The priest is to sacrifice one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her before the LORD because of her unclean discharge.”
31 "You must keep the Israelites from their uncleanness, so that they do not die by defiling My tabernacle that is among them. (Leviticus 15:19-30).
New Century Version:
19 " 'When a woman has her monthly period, she is unclean for seven days; anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening.20 Anything she lies on during this time will be unclean, and everything she sits on during this time will be unclean.21 Anyone who touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe in water; that person will be unclean until evening.22 Anyone who touches something she has sat on must wash his clothes and bathe in water; that person will be unclean until evening.23 It does not matter if the person touched the woman's bed or something she sat on; he will be unclean until evening.
24 " 'If a man has sexual relations with a woman and her monthly period touches him, he will be unclean for seven days; every bed he lies on will be unclean.
25 " 'If a woman has a loss of blood for many days and it is not during her regular monthly period, or if she continues to have a loss of blood after her regular period, she will be unclean, as she is during her monthly period. She will be unclean for as long as she continues to bleed.26 Any bed she lies on during all the time of her bleeding will be like her bed during her regular monthly period. Everything she sits on will be unclean, as during her regular monthly period.
27 " 'Whoever touches those things will be unclean and must wash his clothes and bathe in water; he will be unclean until evening.28 When the woman becomes clean from her bleeding, she must wait seven days, and after this she will be clean.29 Then on the eighth day she must take two doves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.30 The priest must offer one bird for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering. In this way the priest will make her clean so she can belong to the Lord again.
31 " 'So you must warn the people of Israel to stay separated from things that make them unclean. If you don't warn the people, they might make my Holy Tent unclean, and then they would have to die!' "
Have you ever heard that women going to work during their menstrual cycles die??!! Is this not an absurd assumption?
Therefore, this shows how even some Great Persons can sometimes make such off-the point remarks, about things, which they might have never read or understood. If Queen Victoria believed that “the Bible accounts for the supremacy of England”, then she should have checked her brain. Mr.George Washington must be frowning from his grave seeing how some countries like China, Saudi Arabia, etc, are functioning without the Bible...Huh!!
Q. Name one famous book which the fundamental Christians want to burn?
Ans: Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling because they think this book promotes Witchcraft and the Occult.
Let us look at the following verses:
21st Century King James Version:
(i) 18"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. (Exodus 22:18)
(ii) 27"`A man also or woman who hath a familiar spirit, or who is a wizard, shall surely be put to death. They shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.'"(Leviticus 20:27).
Holman Christian Standard Bible:
(i) 18 "You must not allow a sorceress to live. (Exodus 22:18)
(ii) 27 A man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist must be put to death. They are to be stoned; their blood is on their own hands." (Leviticus 20:27).
English Standard Version:
18 "You shall not permit a sorceress to live. (Exodus 22:18)
27 "A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:27).
New Century Version:
18 "You shall not permit a sorceress to live. (Exodus 22:18).
27 " 'A man or woman who is a medium or a fortune-teller must be put to death. You must stone them to death; they have brought it on themselves.' " (Leviticus 20:27).
Also, should astrologers be categorized as fortune tellers? If that be so then they should also die according to the Bible? Isn't it?
But then, the Bible is filled with references to astrology. How do we corroborate these two divergent views? Some scholars say that astrology was widely accepted as truth in Biblical times. Christians who believe that astrology is Satanic would be surprised to learn that the Bible is filled with references to astrology and even Jesus himself made numerous references to astrology.

Let us consider the following verses from the Bible:
(i) "There shall be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars." - Jesus Christ, Luke 21:25.
(ii) "The HEAVENS declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork. Day after day utters his speech and night after night shows his knowledge. There is no tongue or language where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the Earth and their words to the ends of the world. In them (the heavens) he has set a tabernacle for the sun." (Psalm 19:1-4)
(iii) "Can you bring forth the Mazzaroth (the zodiac) in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? (an astrological constellation)" (Job 38:32)
However, this is another topic which we will discuss later. Also, how could these fundamental Christians, promote children (and heart patients) to read the Bible which is full of charming tales of murder and genocide?
