Dhaka: A case has been filed against Sankar Biswas, English teacher of the GT Government High School for making defamatory comment about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM).
Head master of the school Tofazzal Hossain filed the case with Tungipara police station against Sankar Biswas. Police has issued red alert to arrest the accused teacher.
Sankar Biswas had made defamatory remark about Prophet Muhammad (SM) comparing his beards with goats while taking class of ten on Thursday. The students reacted sharply and complained against the teacher to the headmaster and demonstrated.
Tension spread in Tungipara following the incident and the teacher managed to escape with the help of police and administration.
A protest meeting was held on Friday attended by thousands of people. The deputy commissioner of Gopalganj informed the meeting that on directives from the prime minister the teacher has been suspended from his job and also directed the police to arrest him.
Oficer-in-charge of Tungipara Mazharul Hoque said, red alert has been issued to arrest Sankar Biswas and message has also been sent to all police stations of the country.
Message has also been sent to the Border Guards of Bangladesh so that the accuse cannot sneak out of the country.
