Student brings alligator to college campus 'for show-and-tell
A 21-year-old man has been arrested after he brought an alligator to his college campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Police found the four-and-a-half-foot animal while searching Shane Allen's van after they noticed the Tulsa Community College student slumped over his steering wheel. They also found marijuana and Xanax prescription pills.

Representatives for the school have speculated that Allen brought the alligator in as part of a presentation, but have said they can not be sure, reports KJRH News.

The student faces drugs charges and may face further charges after it emerged he did not have a licence to keep the exotic animal, which he claimed to have borrowed from a friend.

The alligator will be temporarily looked after by Tulsa County state game warden Carlos Gomez until officials decide where the creature should be allocated.

Gomez said: "He'll be fine. We'll get him in a safe holding place where he'll be comfortable for a few days, and determine what's gonna be done with him and determine what will be done with the owners."
