Plea to declare Bhagat Singh innocent in Pak court
Lahore: A petition has come up before the Lahore High Court calling for reopening the case of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, who was hanged in 1930, and legally declaring him innocent.

Reports, Wednesday, claimed that petitioner Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi has made a submission before the Lahore High Court that the freedom fighter be legally declared innocent of the charges on which he was hanged.

In his petition, Qureshi has argued that Bhagat Singh was a freedom fighter who was first awarded life imprisonment but the British government later changed that to a death sentence.

The petitioner maintained that Bhagat Singh was sentenced in a case which was hurried and one sided and that the case should be re-opened so that Bhagat Singh can be declared innocent.
