Tihar To Organise Campus Placement Drive For Inmates
[Editor: It is really heartening to know that Delhi Government (Prison's administration falls under the Delhi government----Tihar Jail comes under Delhi Government's Home department which is with the CM) is taking the steps to help those who want to start their lives in a new way. I sincerely thank and appreciate the wonderful efforts of the CM of Delhi, Ms.Sheila Dixit & Tihar Director General Vimla Mehra. Earlier, there were media report that, latter was preparing a "blueprint" to improve overall functioning of the prison--may be this is a part of that revamp exercise. I hope more and more prisons in India will follow this route so that, persons who are released from prisons, can join the mainstream and lead a healthy life. May God bless your efforts,  and take our societies to a new groove.
In this context, it would be pertinent to mention here that, no one is born a criminal, but are formed  due to multiple factors or societal-imperfection, arising out of push--pull-matrix. Our attempt therefore, should hinge on reducing the crime rates, with minimum application of pain and force---Hindu societies should never be brutalized. We ought not follow the disastrous, "Retributive-Justice-System" as is practiced by the likes of Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc]
NEW DELHI: Tihar jail will conduct a campus placement drive tomorrow in which 30 inmates will appear for interviews conducted by 24 companies.

"30 inmates, with good character and who would be released in the next six months and fulfil certain criteria laid down by the companies, will appear for interview tomorrow," Tihar Jail spokesperson Sunil Gupta said.

The participating inmates, with requisite qualifications, would be interviewed by recruiting officials from firms in the Jail no 3 and the successful candidates would be offered the jobs of sales executive, data entry operator and marketing executive, he said.

The campus recruitment drive at Tihar is considered the brainchild of former Jail Superintendent M K Dwivedi. It was introduced in February 2010 as part of rehabilitation programme for prisoners after their release.

Last year, Tihar Jail set a record when 142 inmates were selected by various companies with three of them being offered a package of Rs 3.60 lakh per annum each.
