Mangalore Pub incident and moral policing...
Did we forget what Ms.Usha Uthoop had to face in order to survive in communist Kolkata? She is a classic case of Communists Bengal’s cultural genocidal attitude. This is how Calcutta (now Kolkata) lost most of their very talented Anglo-Indian singers and musicians community, who fled to Australia in hordes.
It is pity that these "Ghatia Commnists" talk of Moral Policing!!
Besides, P R Dasmunsi of Congress banned AXN for two months because it showed a programme on the World’s Sexiest Ads, which was “against good taste or decency and likely to adversely affect public morality”. A month later, Dasmunsi banned FTV for two months for pretty much the same reasons. The trigger was a programme called Midnight Hot, which showed “skimpily dressed and semi-naked models”.
At that time a news channel head said on condition of anonymity, “I don’t see why we are surprised a Congress government is playing moral police. All parties want to control a powerful medium like television......."
While there can be many definitions what moral policing could be, but I think no one cannot exactly define what is moral policing, considering the abstractness of the subject, which it encompasses.
Leaving aside this often used the most "misunderstood term", let us not confuse this with a similar term which is used in Saudi Arabia, the Mutaween (Arabic: مطوعين muṭawiʿiyn; variant English spellings: mutawwain, muttawa, mutawallees, mutawa’ah, mutawi’, mutawwa').
So let us see what is this version of Moral Police we have in Saudi Arabia, and compare them to the activities of Shree Ram Sena or where Shree Ram stands as compared these Mutaween in some Islamic countries.
The Mutaween means "subjugated people" in Arabic is commonly used as a casual term for the government-authorized or -recognized religious police (or clerical police) of Saudi Arabia. More recently the term gained use as an umbrella term outside the Arab-speaking world to indicate religious-policing organizations in Islamic countries with at least some government recognition or deference, who enforce varied interpretations of Sharia Law.
The Mutaween in Saudi Arabia are tasked with enforcing Sharia as defined by the government, specifically by the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV).
The Mutaween of the CPVPV consists of "more than 3,500 officers in addition to thousands of volunteers...often accompanied by a police escort." They have the power to arrest unrelated males and females caught socializing, anyone engaged in homosexual behavior or prostitution; to enforce Islamic dress-codes, and store closures during the prayer time.
They enforce Muslim dietary laws, prohibit the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages and pork, and seize banned consumer products and media regarded as un-Islamic (such as CDs/DVDs of various Western musical groups, television shows and film).
Additionally, they actively prevent the practice or proselytizing of other religions within Saudi Arabia, where they are banned. BUT DO SHREE RAM SENA OR VHP DO THE SAME IN INDIA?? YES UR ANSWER IS RIGHT....IT IS A BLATANT NO....
Among the things the Mutaween have been criticized or ridiculed for include, use of flogging to punish violators, banning Valentines Day gifts, arresting priests for saying Mass, and being staffed by "ex-convicts whose only job qualification was that they had memorized the Quran in order to reduce their sentences." Yes we find one similarity in some right wing Hindu Groups, as regards Valentine Day celebrations.
Perhaps the most serious and widely criticized incident attributed to them occurred on March 11, 2002, when they prevented schoolgirls from escaping a burning school in Mecca, because the girls were not wearing headscarves and abayas (black robes), and not accompanied by a male guardian. Fifteen girls died and 50 were injured as a result. Widespread public criticism followed, both internationally and within Saudi Arabia.
In August 2008, a young Saudi woman who had converted to Christianity was burned to death after having her tongue cut out by her own father, a member of the Committee.

Religious police were very active and powerful in Afghanistan during the 1996-2001 reign of the Taliban, which also established a Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice. Although commonly referred to as "munkrat" not "mutaween", the Afghan Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice was based at least in part on the Saudi mutaween - because Saudi Arabia was a major funder of the Taliban (So you understood who is the real sponsorer of "Jihadi/Islamic Terrorism" throughout the world. It is to be noted that the UPA Government called top officials from Saudi Arabai, to help solve the Mumbai Tragedy: " If there is ghost in the medicine, will the medicine work??").
Its police enforcement of Sharia was one of the main activities of the Taliban regime during this time and was even stricter than that of the Saudi Mutaween.
NOW THIS IS THE GENERAL FACE OF THE MORAL POLICE OR THE RELIGIOUS POLICE ACROSS THE GLOBE. The nature of policing varies but the ultimately the goal is same, to rein in the minds and to cripple the activities which they think is immoral. In India there are some groups of Ultra-conscious citizens who are just violent protestors and I do not know whether they can be called "Moral Police or not". It is because if illicit activities are going inside a pub for a long time and if police is not taking action inspite of local complaints, then there is bound to be some outbust. Now if some group goes for violent protest, this is just a natural form of uncontrolled outburst. However, taking of law by anyone in his own hands should not be encouraged as this could lead to anarchy.
Now let us focus on the Mangalore pub incident, where there were illicit things going inside the pub (may be a form of prostitution, which is common in large cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, etc.), when the police did not take any action, may be under the influence of bribes or may be due to other reasons best known to the administration.
Mangalore Incident: A group of young boys, starts violent protest inside the bar leading to some scuffle and assault on boys and girls who were (may be) indulging in some illicit activities apart from drinking.
THE VIOLENT METHODS USED SHOULD BE CONDEMNED BY ALL AND THERE IS NO ISSUE ON THIS FRONT.
But look what happened next, media starts showing the same footage again and again, highlighting the virtues of a free society, where alcoholism and prostitution goes hand in hand.
Then we learnt a lot from these media faces and from some of the best known faces like Ms.Brinda Karat who lectured us that, "Not drinking Alcohol, is a regressive way of living". Oh ho.....!!! I forget to call the publisher who asked to me to find learned persons for his "New Encyclopedia Indiaca" catering to Vote-Bank Politics.
This over zealousness of the media raised lot of eye-brows. Some frowns where so long long that Eye-brows touched the skulls. I then thought to raise my voice against this blatent violition of human rights by the media, by encouraging alcholism among the masses.
But, then the "indecent dances" by the media continued, in front of 100 crore population, as if we are to learn from these guys in the media what we should do and what we should not.
But what is more appaling is that Muslim Clerics who talk of "Quaran" and its virtues at the fall of a hat did not comment anything on promotion of alcohol, because there was " Ram and a Sena" involved in the name of that organisation. Some Muslims (From the name which were scrolling on the screens) I saw even outrightly condemned the incident on NDTV Ltd......
What they should have done is that: They should have said that we do not promote alcoholism and prostitution in bars but we condemn the voilence used n the incidence. That would have upheld the Indian Secularism, but then when were Mullahs Secular---they cannot, as it goes against the basic tenants of Islam.
Next more interesting thing happened, the NCW, gave a strong statement they are sending a team to asses the situation in Mangalore, where "girls were being beaten up". Aha, very Sexy, in thought and texture. So what about the boys who were also assaulted black and blue?? It seems there were no takers for the story of beating the boys, in the hands of Shree Sena activists--very sorry state.
Then the rukus started to show how much can one appease non-Hindus for vote Bank Politics. Everyone politician except those from BJP and its allies spoke of atrocities against the girls without even mentioning how the boys are recovering after that trauma....and the media cameras rolled and rolled and rolled transmitting every byte of this great finale. Strange isn't it..?? The height of this drama was enacted when Chameleon Number one (CN.1) asked the boys of Shree Ram Sena, to clean the drains and toilet of those girls who were indulging in alcoholism at such a tender age or might be doing some illicit things inside the bar, without the knowledge of their parents.
The day passed and then Times Now, suddenly came up with a long list of papers in which some criminal charges were framed against Mr.Mutalik, the Shree Ram Sena Spremo, long back. This is just to create confusion and diversion from the main issue, because media was now on a back foot. Hence this diversion technique was used by the Times of India Group's Times Now.

But we know the History of Times of India, pre-independence era. It is to be understood in this context that, Lord Curzon had won the editorial backing of the pro-colonial Times of India in his attempts at furthering the British domination of the Indian education system. So we can imagine what Times Now stands for or will show us or to the country--in an unbiased fashion. They are the bania group and will do everything to earn money like they did in the colonial India. Recently they refused to publish my letter to editor (even with edition), because that could have been exposed in their own turf.
Now coming to NDTV Ltd, which as deep roots in Communist Ideology, with Dr.Roy, spending a good part of his life abroad. Also I am not sure if his mother is a British or not. Hence we can understand his love for India and can be compared with the love of Sonia Maino (Gandhi) towards India. The Communists which shout from the top of their voice every time certain things happen in this country or are NOT done by their "Cadres", forget the face of another breed of ultra-communists, "Naxals or Mao-ists". These "Communist-terrorists" are responsible for large scale loss of human lives in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, etc. One estimate showed that these Communist-Terrorist, killed at least 12, 000 people in India after independence alone. So I laugh when these "spineless and odourless" political party speak of "Terrorism and Moral Policing".
Have these "Chameleons" forgot how their eminent party people, behaved irresponsibly towards the "Disco songs" of Usha Uthoop, in 1980s. The incident was highlighted by a number of Kolkata based newspapers including the noted Bengali daily, "Ananda Bazar Patrika", at that time that.
Yes, communists are the best chameleons that "Marx and Angles, manufactured which were then given fangs by Lenin and ferocity/barbarity by Stalin. Those who have seen the Naxalite movement in West Bengal in early 1970s, know what these communists stand for.....
Veteran Naxalite leader and the CPI-ML general secretary, Mr Kanu Sanyal earlier expressed support towards the agitation in the Darjeeling hills demanding a separate Gorkhaland state. The Maoist leader said, his party had favoured the Gorkhaland demand earlier and supports it as well. “The Nepalis in Darjeeling have got every right to self-rule and the demand for Gorkhaland is very genuine.
India is always a soft state without any strategy, without any policy and even it does not react but always give in to the demands by its neighbouring countries. In similar circumstances in 1950s when large numbers of Indians were settled in Burma and Sri Lanka, they got expelled and India had accepted them back without protests. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh have expelled almost all non-Muslims.
Indian UPA Government is looking at the other side when the Tamils are getting Killed Sri Lanka or is being made second class citizens, there. India is sending its own troops to assist the Sri Lankan army in gunning down LTTE....in the process killing innocent civilians.
What is height is that Indian Government can send aid to Gaza Victims but nothing to the Sri Lankan Tamils who lost everything having caught in between the war between the warring factions.....
Anyway, what happens next, .....Coming Up.......Keep a watch on this page......
