Prof Swapan Kumar Bala new DSE CEO

Dhaka, Apr 15: Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has appointed Prof Dr Swapan Kumar Bala as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The DSE board in its March 24 meeting decided to appoint Prof Swapan Bala as the CEO, DSE officials said on Monday. The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission approved the appointment proposal on April 9.

Prof Swapan Bala has been involved in teaching at Dhaka University’s Accounting and Information System department for the last 20 years. On January 9, former DSE CEO Musharraf M Hussain resigned apparently in the wake of estranged relations with the board of the premier bourse.

Hussain joined the premier bourse as its chief executive on January 1 last year after the post had remained vacant since September 8, 2011 since the DSE could not find a suitable person for the top job.
