Prostitution racket busted: Curious case of a client knocking on the wrong door
A prostitution den in Vejalpur in Gujarat? Residents of Shivnagar apartment found a den next door.
This sure was comedy of errors, but one that sent Shivnagar Appartment resident, Sunil Parghi’s weekend moods reeling!

Saturday morning turned out to be quite dramatic for Parghi who opened his door to a middle-aged man demanding sex! Before he could control the shock factor, the complete stranger wanted Parghi to bring out the females.

This was all that a bewildered Parghi could digest before realising that something fishy was cooking in his neighbourhood.

What followed was the grim revelation of a prostitution den functioning in the locality and an angry crowd venting their ire on whatever they could lay their hands on — the house and two vehicles.

According to Jaisingh Chavda, a resident of the society, the house is owned by a woman named, Geeta who stays in house no. 5 was using House No.8 as a prostitution den well camouflaged from other residents’ eyes.

Vejalpur police station police inspector, RG Desai said that police arrested three women in connection to the prostitution den. All of them are in their early thirties, while the client (who had come knocking on Parghi’s door) has been identified as 55-year-old Raghu Parmar.

Two of the women, according to the primary police investigation, had been called from West Bengal and Maharashtra, respectively. Police sources said that the den was operative with the help of pimps and cops are hot on their trail.

The cops also said that the situation in the area remained tense for quite sometime, when angry residents pelted stone on the house and ransacked a bike and a scooty.  Incidentally, some people in the area were aware about the den and had also complained about it to the police; but apparently to cops’ deaf ears.

“Thanks to the police inaction, clients making a beeline to the den increased, which eventually resulted in harassment of other residents as it happened to Parghi on Saturday,” another resident told DNA.

The irate and skeptical residents, who fear that police, even this time, may try and cover the incident has submitted a written complaint against the inactive Vejalpur police to deputy commissioner of police, Zone 1, Neeraj Bhadgujar. “We have been assured that the den will not start again,” a resident said.
