Kolkata, Apr 11 (IBNS) SwissĂ´tel Kolkata Neotia Vista on Wednesday announced it will be ushering in Bengali New Year 1420 with a special food festival called Noboborsher Bhoj at its Indian Specialty Restaurant, Durbari.

Bengali actress Mumtaz Sorcar and fashion designer Pranay Baidya were present to participate in the festivities.

Dressed in Pranay Baidya’s signature saree in white and red, Mumtaz looked gorgeous in her quintessential Bengali avatar.

The occasion was complemented by a wide spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes prepared by Executive Chef Pranay Singh.

The highlight of the Noboborsher Bhoj is the inclusion of the quintessential Bengali dish – Panta Bhaat.

Chef Pranay said, “You will not find Panta Bhaat in a menu of any five-star hotels. Panta Bhaat is considered a very home-grown and intrinsic part of the Bengali cuisine but it is often ignored over more glamorous dishes prepared with chicken and fish. We selected Panta Bhaat as a tribute to mark the Bengali New Year.”
Apart from Panta Bhaat, the menu also boasts of Mochar Chop, Vegetable Chop, Murgir Kabiraj, Topshe Maachh Bhaja, Mangshor Chop, Mochar Ghanto, Jhinge Aloo Posto, Channar Kalia, Aam Kashondi Bhindi, Daab Chingri, Chingri Malai Curry, Bhapa Chingri, Roshun Bhapa Maach Bekti Maacher Paturi, Katla Machher Jhol, Murgir Jhol, Pabna Murgi, Loochi, KaraishutirKachori, Radhaballavi, Govindbhog Steam Rice, Chennar Payesh and Nolengurer Ice cream, among other things.
General Manager Marco Saxer said, “I love Bengali cuisine and SwissĂ´tel Kolkata is happy to host a food festival that offers an authentic and delicious array of dishes. People in Kolkata are great foodies and I am sure they will love our special Bengali menu.”

Noboborsher Bhoj will be available at Durbari from Apr 14 to 21, 7 pm to 12 midnight. A meal for two will cost Rs 1500 plus taxes.
