Ambala MLA seeks quota for Brahmins
Former union minister and Ambala city legislator Venod Sharma has advocated reservation for Brahmins in government jobs in Haryana.

"Brahmins in the state should prepare for a long battle for the reservation to the community in government jobs," Sharma said while addressing a rally here on Sunday on the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, Sharma said

"There are poor in every community and castes. So, irrespective of the caste, poor should be given reservation in government jobs. Not only Brahmins, but also poor among the Punjabis, Rajputs and other upper caste communities should get reservation," Sharma said. The former union minister exhorted the Brahmin community to start the fight for reservation with a fast on Monday on Akshya Trithya.

The MLA said Lord Parshuram was not an individual but represented a thought that fought against evil powers. "We should imbibe his ideals and fight for our cause (rights of community) and mankind," he said.
Organisers said the Brahmin community had orgainised first such rally in the state.

Vidhan Sabha speaker Kuldeep Sharma said exhorted members of the community to help the MLA in his fight for them. Local leaders of the Punjabi community, other backward classes and business units' participated in the rally.
