Controversy queen converted to Hinduism but couldn't marry
 May 20, 2013: Ahmedabad/ Jamnagar: She’s one of the most talked about and also the most controversial actress in the  South Indian film actress. Nayantara as she is known now, belongs to Jamnagar. It is here that she was born as the daugheter of Kurien Kodiyattu and Omana Kurien.

Nayantara is one of the hottest and most sought after names in the Southern film industry.

These days, however, she is in the news for other reasons. Firstly, Nayantara made headlines beyond movies when she converted to Hinduism in order to get married to the love of her life-Prabhu Deva. Another reason that caused her to be much talked about was her refusal to do an item number for no less than the Badshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan! The film in question? -‘Chennai Express’.

Nayantara was born Diana Mariam Kurien. As the daughter of a father who was in the services, Diana has travelled extensively around the country. She has lived in Delhi, Gujarat and Chennai.
The family settled in Kerala after her father retired.

Nayantara completed her college education in Kerala. She had originally wanted to be a chartered accountant!
