Sikh groups raise 'pro-Khalistani' slogans inside Golden Temple; even judiciary not spared for its 'double standards'
Amritsar: Loud secessionist slogans in favour of ‘Khalistan’ echoed in the Golden Temple complex on Thursday after Jathedar Gurbachan Singh, or head of most important Sikh spiritual body Akal Takht, criticized the Centre and judiciary for failing to redress the grievances of Sikh community, on the occasion of 29th anniversary of controversial ‘Operation Bluestar’.

“On one hand, there is Davinderpal Singh Bhullar who is about to be executed without being given a chance to explain himself, and we have leaders like Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler on the other hand, both of whom are being shielded even after several witnesses have testified against their role in Anti-Sikh riots of 1984,” Gurbachan said as he addressed a crowd which largely comprised of members of five major takhts of Sikhs.

"It clear exposes the double-standards of judicary and the state towards Sikhs," he added.

As soon as Gurbacjan ended his speech, Akali Dal leader Simranjit Singh Mann addressed the gathering, mainly taking potshots at the Centre and former CM Captain Amrinder Singh. But he turned some heads when he aimed verbal assaults at CM Parkash Singh Badal for his ‘anti-people policies’ since SAD-BJP alliance came back to power last year.

Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar was also present at the function, accompanied by a large cordon of security cover made up of State Task Force(STF) Commandoes.
