Olama-Mashayekh To Rally For Jamaat Ban
The Olama-Mashayekh (Islamic scholars) will rally in capital Dhaka on Mar 23 demanding death penalty for the war criminals and a ban on Jamaat-e-Islami politics.
Their platform, Bangladesh Olama-Mashayekh Towhidi Janata Sanghati Parishad, announced the programme at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity office on Thursday.
Maulana Fariduddin Masud, Khatib of the historic Sholakia Eidgah and Chairman of the Sanghati Parishad, said the rally would be held at the Shapla intersection in Motijheel at 11am.
“Jamaat-e-Islam is the enemy of Islam. They’ve imported cuel communalism in the name of religion in the country,” he said.
The Parishad also demanded formulation of law to protect the integrity of the religion, security of the religious minority groups and recognition of the education of Qawmi madrasa as ‘special education system’.
Maulana Masud urged the Islamic scholars and all forces of the Liberation War to get united lthe way they had in 1971 and attend the rally.
“Let’s get united against the nastik'(atheists) and murtad (apostates). They’ve no room in the country. The trial of the war criminals must be held, they will not be spared.”
Asked who he meant by ‘nastik’ and ‘murtad’, he said: “It may be Jamaat or others … All of those who run anti-Islam propaganda are nastik and murtad.”
