8 Bloggers Sued In Barisal, Bangladesh

A case was filed against seven bloggers and Imran H Sarkar, convener of Gonojagoron Mancha, with a Barisal court yesterday for defaming Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Advocate Sultan Ahmed Khan, a leader of pro-BNP Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, lodged the case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court under sections 295-Ka and 109 of penal code.
The accused bloggers are Asif Mohiuddin, Arifur Rahman, Omi Rahman Piyal, Arif Jebtik, Ibrahim Khalil, K M Mahdi Hasan and Biplob.
In the case statement, the complainant said Imran and the bloggers intentionally hurt the religious sentiment of his and others by defaming the ideology of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), His family members and followers.
After hearing the case yesterday, Masudur Rahman, chief judicial magistrate of the court, fixed tomorrow for passing the order.
