Hasina to be brought to book for BDR carnage, genocide, warns Khaleda
JOYPURHAT: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday threatened her arch rival Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to bring her to book for what she said her misdeeds, including BDR carnage and ‘genocide’.

“The Prime Minister will be made accountable for the BDR carnage. She (Hasina) thinks she’ll hang onto power anyhow or flee the country… we heard many things. We have all the documents of your corruption… we also have the documents of all the killings. Where’ll you (Hasina) escape? You’ll be traced wherever you’ll be staying in the world. You’ll have to stand on the dock,” she said.

Khaleda said this while addressing a mourning rally at Shalaipur High School of Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat.

The BNP chief also came down hard on the premier for her silence over the killing of Bangladeshi people by Indian BSF. “You’ve killed the people of the country like birds. And you don’t dare to protest when BSF kill Bangladeshis along the border.”

Referring to a recent incidents of torture by BSF by intruding into Bangladesh territory, Khaleda questioned: ”Where does the courage come from? Where is the government?”

Mentioning that the Awami League government led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had killed 40,000 people during its 1972-1975 rule, the former premier urged the young generation to read more about the brutalities of the Awami League at that time. “The present Awami League government has started doing the thing as they did during 1972-75.”

Terming the month of March as the month of Liberation War, Khaleda said the government is killing people in this month, too. “But the current regime won’t able to remain in power by killing people. They’ll have to quit and take part in the next polls by creating a level playing filed… the level playing field is to restore caretaker government. The government is unwilling to quit for its misdeeds. So, we need to push them out through a tough movement.”

“I urge people to move to paddy sheef (the election symbol of BNP) from the sinking boat (the election symbol of Awami League). You’ll be benefited with that,” she added.

On neighboruing India, Khaleda said, “As they (India) brought Awami League to power illegally, now they’re destroying our country in a planned way.”

At the rally, Khaleda provided Tk one lakh to the families of each of the four victims killed in the recent violence in Joypurhat.
