Saraswati idol damaged in Sherpur
SHERPUR: Unidentified miscreants damaged an idol of goddess Saraswati at a local club in the district town early Saturday.
A worship material was also stolen from there.
Police said devotees found damaged the Saraswati idol at Madobpur Club in the town in the morning when they went there to perform puja and informed police.
Superintendent of police (SP) of the district and leaders of district Puja Udjapan Parishad visited the spot.
Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman said the idol was damaged in a planned way in a bid to harm the communal harmony in the district.
Those who did the heinous act would be brought to book.
Ajoy Chakrabarty, president of the club, said he had seen the idol in the right position as of 2.00am.
A case was filed with sadar thana in this connection.
