Pakistan removes Indian prisoner’s organs before handing over body
In what promises to further vitiate the already tense atmosphere between India and Pakistan, after the attack on CRPF jawans in Srinagar, Indian prisoner Chamel Singh’s vital organs have reportedly been taken out by Pakistani authorities before handing over his body to Indian officials.
According to reports, a team of doctors in Kashmir which has done post-mortem of the body has said that all vital organs, like the liver and kidney were removed in Pakistan.
The body of the Indian national Chamel Singh, who died in custody in Pakistan jail after being allegedly thrashed by the jail wardens, had arrived in India on March 13.
The body was handed over by the Pakistani authorities at Wagah border.
Chamel Singh, a resident of Pargwal area in Jammu, who was about to complete a five-year prison term for alleged involvement in espionage, died in Lahore, with reports saying that he was ‘mercilessly beaten’ by Pakistani prison staff before his death.
Media reports quoted a Pakistani lawyer named Tehseen Khan, who was recently released from Kot Lakhpat jail, as saying that he had seen prison staff assaulting Chamel Singh for using water from a tap to wash clothes on January 15 and that he died two days later at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.
