Dhaka : Bangladeshis living in New York has staged demonstration in front of the UN Headquarters demanding death penalty for the war crimes accused now facing trial at the International Crimes Tribunals here, reports UNB.
They also handed over a memorandum containing their demands to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, reports BBC Bangla on Monday.
The demonstrators expressed solidarity with the Bangladeshi protesters under the 'Gonojagoron Manch' in Dhaka and other parts of the country.
The Bangladeshis under the banner of 'Gonojagoron Manch' staged demonstrations in New York on Sunday, carrying placards and national flags conveying their demands.
Since February 5 last, the 'Gonojagoron Manch' has been protesting and holding rallies across the country demanding capital punishment for all war criminals.
Quoting Bangladesh citizen and journalist Lovlu Ansar, BBC Bangla said several hundred Bangladeshis joined the protest rally in New York despite heavy cold there.
People from adjoining states also joined the rally. A good number of children were also seen with their guardians.
